Becoming a member of CAOLAS means joining a passionate community of people who care deeply about the sea and want to help protect it. Whether you live along the coast or support us from afar, your voice matters.
Membership is completely free and open to anyone aged 16 and over.

As a CAOLAS member, you become part of a growing movement to safeguard our local marine environment. Your support helps amplify community voices in marine protection, while connecting you to inspiring opportunities, training, and stories from Scotland’s west coast.

- Seasonal email newsletters with updates and inspiration
- Invitations to talks, events, shoreline surveys, and special activities
- Access to training in citizen science, biodiversity monitoring, and coastal stewardship
- Voting rights at the CAOLAS Annual General Meeting (AGM) and any Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) (Full Members only)
- The chance to shape local marine priorities and take action together
Membership Types
We welcome everyone aged 16 and over who shares our mission, and offer two types of membership:
Full Member
For residents of Acharacle, Morvern, Sunart, Mull, or Ardnamurchan.
Full Members may attend the CAOLAS Annual General Meeting (AGM) and any Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs), and have voting rights at these meetings.
Associate Member
For supporters based outside our core area who wish to support our work from afar (aged 16 and over).
Associate Members receive newsletters, event invitations, and volunteering opportunities, but do not attend AGMs or EGMs and do not hold voting rights.
