Lochaline Native Oyster Project
The Lochaline Native Oyster Project is a multi-year initiative to restore native European oysters (Ostrea edulis) to Lochaline.
The project combines nursery systems with hands-on community involvement to rebuild oyster reefs, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen local stewardship of marine habitats.
Activities include:
LNOP contributes directly to Scotland’s wider native oyster restoration efforts. LNOP hopes to inform long-term ecosystem recovery in the MPA and our coastal waters through active restoration led by local communities.
